What is Polyurethane coatings.

Polyurethane coating is a tough, rubberized plastic that is used in many aspects of today’s living. It creates a tough cover for a number of different uses. Urethane is a complex not unlike rubber or plastic that is very tough and very strong, and so polyurethane is just a coating made out of this same material.

Polyurethane coating are used most prominently in two fields today;

The reason plastics and Rubbers are so often used in chemical labs and what not (gloves, eye protection, ect.) is that they are marvelously resistant to most standard solvents. Weak acids and alkaline substances rarely will dissolve these materials.
Polyurethane coatings also protect against scratching and abrasions. It is a tough material and will provide sufficient protection against most normal ware.

Polyurethane also creases a watertight seal, and it is a strong sealant. Have a piece of equipment that is prone to chemical ware and serious debilitating scratches? Polyurethane is the way to go.
